beautifulgarbage Era

  beautifulgarbage was released in October of 2001.  Though, it got good reviews in general, this album was definitley the lowmark in Garbage's career.  The record was released right around the time of 9/11, and definitley horribly affected BG's performance. Press and Interviews seemed inappropriate. 
   Among the fanbase, BG caused the most controversy among the fans.  Many fans liked it, though many fans also did not.  It seemed as though most fans regardless of whether they liked it or not, put BG as their least favorite album by Garbage.  Granted two of Garbage's most celebrated songs made it on this record, "Nobody Loves You", and "Cherry Lips".
    Garbage toured with No Doubt, The Distillers, and U2 for BG along with a solo tour.  This helped the band tremendously, and even acquired some new fans.
   The first single off BG was "Androgyny".  Follow-included "Cherry Lips", "Breaking Up The Girl", and "Shut Your Mouth".  For the Cherry Lips Video, Shirley decided to dye her blonde and cut it very short, but liked it so much she kept it that way.   This caused much anger among the fans, though according to Shirley was "the most fucking liberating thing".
    beautifulgarbage has sold over 2.8 million copies worldwide.  This was quite a success when you add in the points that the record companies gave this record very low promotion.
